A recent commission from the National Park Service, National Historic Site, Hyde Park, New York, and the FDR Hyde Park Foundation, ‘Home On The Hudson’ is a documentary I filmed and produced that was shot over two years on location at the FDR Estates.
Funded by a grant from the Hudson River Valley Greenway and the FDR Hyde Park Foundation, it depicts the Roosevelts’ cultural and historical influence and legacy while promoting the use of the trail network, which comprises twelve miles of trails that connect four prominent historic sites in the Town of Hyde Park; Vanderbilt Mansion, the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Presidential Library, Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill, and Top Cottage.
It also focuses on the environmental legacy of the nation’s greatest conservationist president, a connection between the sites’ cultural history and land use history, and its beneficial impact and relationships with the surrounding local communities.
